Can I access documents within SharePoint using the file system?

I would like to browse the content of the SharePoint Store using Windows Explorer. How can I activate the M drive?

In order to active the M drive, you must change a registry key value and reboot. The value of "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\EXIFS\Parameters\Drive Letter" may be set to a drive letter of choice. The most common is "M".

Whilst this does work and is great for reading documents, do not upload documents via the "M Drive" If you do, Windows NTFS permissions overwrite SPS roles. Best use the Web Folders as described in the following message.
